Most of the people are worried about finding the best
method of controlling and training their dogs outdoors. Some of the most prevalent
options in the market are the dog harness, the halter and the dog collar. One
must consider a lot of factors before buying the right product for their dog.
To begin with, we can say that the dog
collars have got a drawback when compared to a harness as it is quite
difficult for the dog to slip out of a harness.
When it comes to training and walking with the smaller
dogs, many people prefer to go for a harness as they feel a greater sense of
control over them; they can even lift the dog if required. This won’t even
damage their fragile spine and neck. Although it may seem that the harness is
the ideal choice for most breeds of the dogs but some users have also reported
the detrimental effects that they have had on certain breed of dogs. The
effects include bolding of the legs, widening of the chest and an increased
possibility of dislocation in certain breeds. The number of such cases is quite
low and occurs mostly to the smaller dogs having the tendency to pull.
The larger dogs are better controlled when on a collar
as compared to a dog harness. In case
your dog is stubborn and a strong puller, then using dog collars can have a
detrimental effect on his spine and neck. Another option for the larger dogs is
a halter harness. It just controls the head, which in turn helps in controlling
the whole animal. Also, it is best to use a belt harness when taking your dog
in the car.
